Help 4 Heroes,

We are taking part in the Help 4 Heroes event at Beighton Welfare Recreational Ground, S20 1ED this weekend. The event is in memory of local hero, CPL Liam Riley. We will be holding a Have a Go with all money raised going to this worthy cause. There will be all sorts of fun and entertainment throughout the day so please come along and have a go at our sport and help raise money for Help 4 Heroes.

New Beginners Course

Aardwolf Archers are taking
part in the Archery GB Big
Weekend event.

We are opening the club to all to have a go at archery and try our sport and find out more about us.

Our club will be set up at the Mosbourough Miners Welfare, Station Road Mosborough, S20 5AD on Saturday 30th May between 10.00am and 4.00pm.

Anyone, of any age interested in trying archery can come along and have a go. Beginners courses will be available in June for anyone wanting to get into the sport (minimum age 8 years). Just come along and meet one of the committee, experienced Coaches and archers we'll be happy to help.

Dates for the May Beginners Course.

Our Second beginners course of 2015 is filling up but we still have places available. The course consists of four 2 hour sessions on the dates below. 

The dates are Friday 8th, Monday 11th, Friday 15th and Monday 18th May

Everyone must be able to attend all four lessons as alternative date cannot be arranged.

The cost of this course is £50 and qualified coaches will be supervising.

First Beginners Course for 2015

We have arranged our first beginners course of the year and this will be held over two weekends in March. The course will consist of four sessions on the Saturday and Sunday morning of each weekend. We will meet around 9.30am each morning with a view to starting at 10.00am and finishing around lunch time. The dates are 14th, 15th, 21st and 22nd March and applicants must be able to attend all four sessions. Details on how to sign up can be found on the beginners info section of our site.

Happy New Year

Everyone at Aardwolf Archers hopes you've had a very happy Christmas and looking forward to a healthy and prosperous New Year.

Being one of the most progressive clubs in the country we're looking forward to growing the club and it's membership over the next twelve months. We continue to work with Archery GB on the "Increasing Participation" program and we are to start work on the "Recruit into Coaching" project with South Yorkshire Sport early in 2015. 

With the help of Archery GB we are also working on delivering "Boost" courses for archers to increase their knowledge of equipment and to improve their technique. 

The club has three Level 2 Coaches and five Level 1's at the moment. The coaching project will produce four more Level 1 Coaches and they will work on delivering inspiring beginners courses through this Spring and Summer.

Beginners Course will start in mid to late March and dates will be posted as soon as they are available. We already have a list of  applicants so if you are interested please contact us as soon as possible and we'll keep you informed of forthcoming dates.

LowEdges Gala Sheffield

We will be attending Lowedges Gala on 10th August 2014. This is a Have a Go event where everyone of all ages can have a go shooting bows and arrows.

Beginners Course for May 2014

We plan to run a beginners course consisting of four sessions starting Monday 12th then Friday 16th, Monday 19th and Friday 23rd May. We will meet to register at 5.45pm each evening with a 6.00pm start and the lessons will finish around 8.00pm. 

All places must be pre-booked and paid for before the course start date. Either email the club secretary at secretary@aardwolfarchers.co.uk or by calling 07961 440075 and leaving us a message, we will then call you back.

These courses fill up really quickly and places are limited. This is an extra course planned at short notice because of demand. If you want to book a place then please contact us soon.

Our April Beginners course is now full, more courses will be announced and dates set in the next few days.

Dates announced for 1st Beginners course of 2014

Our first beginners course of 2014 will be held in April. The course will consist of four lessons held on four consecutive days. The course will start at 5.45pm till dusk on Friday 25th April and continue on Saturday and Sunday mornings 26th and 27th April starting at 9.45am till 12.00 noon. The final lesson is on Monday evening 28th April starting 5.45pm till Dusk.

Total cost for the four sessions is £40.00 and all equipment will be provided whilst on the course, all we ask is you turn up suitably dressed for an outdoor sport and be prepared to enjoy yourself.

The course will be run by qualified coaches and experienced archers who all give their time voluntarily so all monies paid go directly to the club.

To apply for a place on these very popular courses we ask you to contact us for an application form. We can only accept applications that include full payment in advance and on receipt we will confirm your place on the course.

We will be holding our last beginners course for 2013 during October. The course comprises of four lessons which will be held on Saturday 12th, Sunday 13th, Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th October. The result was a full size target face covered in images which we displayed at the entrance to our event on the ArcheryGB Big Weekend at Mosborough Miners Welfare on 26th August 2013

Megan has a good eye for taking good photographs and really capturing the moment. She is also one of our top recurve archers in her age group.

This coming Bank Holiday Monday, 26th August 2013
between 10.00am and 4.00pm Aardwolf Archers are holding a, "Have a Go" event at Mosborough Miners Welfare, Station Road, Sheffield S20 5AD.

This event is a National event organised by our governing body, ArcheryGB and Aardwolf Archers are
 one of 45 clubs all around Britain taking part.

Come along for a chat on how to get into Archery and for a small charge of £2 (all proceeds to club funds) you can have a go at using a bow and arrows.

Qualified coaches and experienced Archers will be present throughout the day and will be happy to give advice about Archery, our club and the equipment we use.

August course is now full

Due to massive demand our August beginners course is now full. Because of the level of interest in Archery we are holding another beginners course in September. The course will comprise of four 2 hour sessions starting on Monday 2nd September, the second lesson on the Friday of that week and then Monday and Friday evening on the following week. We will meet at 5.45pm for a 6.00pm start on each evening and shoot till 8.00pm . The cost of the course is £40 per person and all equipment is provided whilst on the course.

Beginner's Course Update

New course planned for May 2013

Due to massive demand our April beginners course is now full. We therefore plan to run another course in May. This will be over four evenings starting Monday 6th May, then subsequent lessons on Friday 10th, Monday 13th and Friday 17th. We will meet at 5.45pm each evening, and will start at 6.00pm till 8.00pm.

Corbin goes for Gold

Having just completed his beginners course and joined the ranks of our junior section, our new archer Corbin Ward scores his first 6 gold end.

Corbin has been interested in becoming an archer after shooting a bow and arrow whilst on holiday. He completed his beginners course with ease and is now a confident young archer.  

Indoor Shooting now available

We have now secured an indoor shooting venue and will be meeting every Friday evening between 7.00pm and 9.00pm at the old Park Baths just off Duke Street/City Road.

Club News

The webspace has been neglected recently due to the massive interest in the club. We have been spending every spare minute promoting the club and introducing newcomers to the sport. We have been victims of our own success as demand for places on beginners courses has pushed the facilities available to the limits.

We are now established as a club and shooting regularly, more equipment will be available shortly and even though life has been hectic for all involved, we will endevour to provide quality training which leads to ArcheryGB membership.

As the nights close in we will spend time filling in the gaps to the site and planning future events, please re-visit regularly to see Aardwolf Archers progress and developments.

Looking back at the Weekend

Our third and last event for the time being was again a resounding success. With the help from a great team the day ended with around 20 would be archers enjoying a half hour taster session and many more just having a go.

This event was split between two locations, during the morning at Mosborough Miners Welfare then transferring to the old Westfield School Fields. This proved to be very tiring logistically but with help from members Alan, Alison, Audrey, and Steve (hopefully new member) with partner Lynn and of course the fearless four (the committee) the day went well.

Many who attended showed interest in the club and we're hoping they will enrol on beginners courses soon. As the nights close in beginners course will be held at weekends so budding archers can train throughout the year. Many attending the event lived locally but we enjoyed the company of a lovely Mum and Son from Australia, visiting a relative in killamarsh and we are honoured that they chose to spend some of their holiday with us enjoying shooting arrows and having a bit of a competition between themselves.

Have a Go and Taster event this Saturday 20/08/11

We are holding the second Have a Go and Taster Sessions event this Saturday. We will start the day at Mosborough Miners Welfare commencing 10.00am till 1.00pm, we will then transfer across to the old Westfield School fields site between 1.00pm and 2.00pm at be there for the rest of the afternoon till about 4.30pm.

This will give everyone a chance to see the two venues and the afternoon session will allow new members to see where we regularly shoot.

Everyone's welcome with no age limit and all we ask is a nominal payment of £1.50 for the have a go and £5 for a half hour taster session.

Norton Show 2011

This was the first time Aardwolf Archers had attended the Norton Show. This is an annual event and this year was the 108th show. The showground was a hive of activity with horticultural exhibitions, environmental groups, all sorts of animal and craft attractions, an equestrion event and much much more.

The weater was good and the sun shone in the afternoon. Everyone seemed to be having a good time and our archers were busy all day supervising in excess of 100 people of all ages sampling our sport.

We thank Norton Ploughing Association for all their hard work in organising a superb show, all the budding archers for visiting us and having a go and to our team for giving their time to promote our club.

What a Success

Today we held our first event as a new club. The Have a go and Taster sessions day was a great success.
Our first visitors arrived as soon as we were set up at 10.00am and we extended our finishing time by nearly an hour due to the numbers showing interest.

The weather was kind with only a slight shower and judging from the response from our visitors, all enjoyed their experience and we hope we have encouraged them to take up the sport.

We owe our sincere thanks to our Archer friends and family who rallied to help and the good news is they are joining The club.

Now Shooting

We have spent the last few weeks organising and preparing to launch the club and at last we are ready to shoot our first arrows as Aardwolf Archers. We will be shooting At Westfield on Saturday 23rd July 2011. If you're in the area then please come and have a chat.

VIP evening at Decathlon

Decathlon, the sports shop held a VIP evening at their Sheffield store last week and Aardwolf Archers had invites to attend. We had an enjoyable evening with them which began with a presentation about Decathlon and their services.
We then met Amy who looks after the Archery section and she took time to explain how the store works and what the shop and the club could do together.
We left with some very useful pieces of equipment and in return posters advertising our club will be displayed in the store.The team at Decathlon are all enthusiastic about their store and\ this makes it a great place to shop.

Welcome to the web space of Aardwolf Archers.

We are a new Target Archery Club based in South East Sheffield. We are now in the final stages of launching the club. Our venue has been inspected and approved by GNAS and we hope to be shooting by mid July 2011.  Details of the venue and our location can be viewed by clicking on the,"our venue" tab.

Archery is a traditional sport  but Aardwolf will launch as a modern progressive group whilst always complying with the established rules of shooting. These can be viewed by clicking on the link below,
