We are a Modern Target Archery Club based in South East Sheffield. We shoot longbows, recurve and compound bows at distances to 100yds.
The club is registered with Archery GB and affiliated to Yorkshire Archery Association and Northern Counties Archery Society. We have multi venue facilities which have been inspected and approved by Archery GB/GNAS and the founding members of the club are all experienced archers.
Our aims are to practice and promote Archery and to encourage anyone interested to take up this fascinating sport. Membership will be open to all irrespective of age or ability. We will assist every member to shoot to the best of their ability and help them achieve through recognised classifications and competitions.
Our main shooting areas are situated on the Old Westfield School fields site. Details of these venues can be found on the Venues page.
With the kind permission of Mosborough RUFC we occasionally use their field situated behind Mosborough Miners Welfare Club whose facilities are also available.
Archery is a traditional sport with it's origins recorded in history however our club is run on a modern basis so we have fun whilst taking our sport seriously. We shoot safely and adhere at all times to
We have kept our logo simple with a clean look as would be expected of a modern club.
This follows the up to date look of the Archery GB logo compared to the original GNAS logo.
The clubs name is again different to that of traditional clubs. It is the result of four people sitting together to establish a name for the club. Each time a quick search resulted in the name suggested already in use so after many hours Aardwolf Archers was our choice.
The Aardwolf is a close relative of the hyena which is known for it's laughing call. It was suggested our motto should read, "to laugh in the face of adversity," using the pun compared to the Hyena call but finally we took the motto of Mosborough RUFC , "non res verba" which mean "Actions Not Words"
Below are the logos of Archery GB and GNAS clearly illustrating the traditional and modern theme.
