Metric Scoring |
Metric and Imperial.
The image here illustrates the metric scoring system. This uses all the
scoring zones, 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1. The centre gold scores 10 down
to 1 for the outer white.
In ten zone scoring the gold is made up of 3 increasing rings. When
shooting a recurve bow the two inner golds count as a score of 10
but for compound bows only the smallest gold counts as a score of 10.

When shooting Imperial rounds scoring is based on the 5 main coloured zones, as shown on this illustration.
The 3 gold zones all count as a score of 9, the two red zones both count
as 7, the two blue zones count as 5, the two black zones count as 3 and the two white zones count as 1.
In competitions a score of 10 should be marked as a X on the score sheet, when scoring for an imperial round then the X should be circled.
If an arrow hits the target on a line with no colour showing between the arrow and the line then this is called a line cutter. If your arrow hits a line then the arrow counts at the higher score.

Below are tables that show the rounds we shoot, these are set by ArcheryGB in the Rules of Shooting, and are made up of the number of arrows an archer must shoot at set distances and the size of face to shoot at.
